Destin Chiropractor, Dr. Ken Whidden is a native of northwest Florida, growing up in the nearby town of Chipley, Florida.

Following high school, Dr. Whidden embarked on a distinguished career by enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he completed Electronics Technician “A” School and U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School. His exceptional performance led to his selection for an NROTC scholarship at Auburn University, where he earned a B.S. in Aviation Management in 1984. Upon graduation, Dr. Whidden launched into a career as a naval aviator, culminating his active-duty service as a flight instructor at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. After 31 years of service and over 5,000 hours of military flight time in both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, he retired from the Navy in 2009 at the rank of Captain. Today, Dr. Whidden holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot license and is actively pursuing additional flight instructor ratings.
 
Following his military career, Dr. Whidden transitioned into healthcare, graduating magna cum laude from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. He then became a licensed chiropractic physician in Florida, bringing his dedication and precision from his naval service into his practice.

Dr. Whidden was voted “Best Chiropractor ” by the readers of Emerald Coast Magazine for the years 2004, 2005, 2018, 2019 and 2020.  Emerald Coast Chiropractic was voted “Best in Destin” by the readers of Destin Magazine in 2012, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020.  Dr. Whidden and his wife, Kathy, were selected as the 2015 Business People of the Year by the Destin Chamber of Commerce.  Dr. Whidden has attained certification in Acupuncture, using several methods and techniques.  Dr. Whidden has been designated as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP) and has also been certified as a Strongfirst Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor and a Freediving Instructors International Level 1 Free Diver.

He is active in several civic organizations including the Rotary Club of Destin, Destin Area Chamber of Commerce and the Walton County Chamber of Commerce.  Dr. Whidden is a member of the Emerald Coast Auburn Club and Okaloosa County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).  Dr. Whidden continues to attend post graduate courses in order to better serve the chiropractic and health care needs of his patients as well as sharpening his saw.

Dr. Whidden lives and works in Destin with his wife, Kathy.    His son, Dr. JD, is an associate doctor at Emerald Coast Chiropractic at the Grand Boulevard office in Miramar Beach and daughter, Dr. Jess, is an associate doctor at the Destin Harbor office where she is also qualified in veterinary chiropractic.
